So today was a big day. Me and Mom went to check out the special preview of the dinosaur exhibit at the Museum of Life & Sciences in Durham. It was way cool. Huge, life like dinosaurs everywhere. You could even walk right up and touch one of them. They’re even going to have a real fossil dig site, once the exhibit is complete. Unfortunately it wasn’t finished yet, when we were there. Kind of a bummer.
After we finished up with the dinosaurs we played with the dump trucks for a while, then moved on to the play structure.
Dad was working from home today – hooray! So me and Mom decided to get out of his hair for a while so that he could get some work done. We went to the Marbles Museum again. I love going early in the morning because this place can get really crowded in the afternoons. At 9am we practically have the place to ourselves…at least for an hour or so.
We spent some time buying groceries in the supermarket. Then off to the train depot to drive some trains. After that we made our way through the duck pond to rescue some ducks that couldn’t swim. Oh, and I stopped to make a phone call to Dad to make sure he was doing ok! He tends to have a little separation anxiety so I wanted to let him know I missed him. Brownie points for me!
When we got home Mom made me sit on the potty again. No biggie. But mission accomplished if you know what I mean. Wink wink nudge nudge.
Thursday afternoon me, Mom, Cali & McKenna all went to the Marbles Museum in downtown Raleigh. Grammy & Grampy got me a membership there for my birthday so that we can go as often as we want. I have a feeling that Mom is going to be taking me there at least once a week.
First we stopped at the play area and packed up the delivery truck. There were a couple of girls there that were trying to help out, but geez….don’t let anyone tell you that girls are good packers. Right Grampy? Once they got off the conveyor belt I pretty much had to do the whole thing myself.
From there we were on to the train table. This is my favorite spot. It’s mostly guys that hang out there. No smelly girls to ruin everything.
We also got to dress up like pirates. Unfortunately there were no volunteers to walk the plank. Maybe next time. Argh!
The Peas & Carrots pit was pretty fun. It’s much easier to move around when you have someone to climb on, that’s for sure. And it gave Mom and opportunity to snap a few pics. Hey Grammy – did you notice that I’m wearing the bug outfit you bought me this past spring? I finally grew into the shorts!
Lots of museum trips the past couple of weeks. If you can call them museums that is. More like glorified playgrounds if you ask me. So maybe I’m learning while I’m playing? Yeah, that’s it.
Last week I met up with my friends Noah and Truman at the Museum of Life & Sciences in Durham….we checked out all the indoor exhibits, played in the weather station, watched a crash test dummy get clobbered in the crash test machine (Way Cool!), saw some ants building an ant farm, and then played in the toddler area for a few minutes – until I had an ultimate wipe out! Geez louise aren’t these play areas supposed to be safe?!
All I did was lean over a wall to reach a ball and the next thing I knew I was on my back staring at the ceiling. Oh god…the humiliation of it all. And of course I had to sport a nice road rash on my face for the rest of the day. Oh well, at least it scared off all the kids. I think they just figured I was a bad ass and they steered clear of me. Makes me even more handsome, if you ask me.
Next up, the outdoor play areas. Took a quick run through the playground, made a pit stop at the drums and cowbells, then onto the good stuff – the sand pit with the giant dump trucks! Seriously…I could’ve sat there all day. There was A LOT of sand to move around. But so much to do, so little time. We can’t sit here all day, there are animals to look at, sailboats to sail and trains to explore. Let’s move em’ out!
After checking out the barnyard animals we went through the butterfly and insect house. After that, snack time!!!
By the time we finished all our exploring it was way past nap time. We were all too pooped to continue. The rest had to wait until the next visit. But luckily mom took me back the following week to explore the areas that we had missed the first time. Saw some bears, some wolves, and even some crazy lemur thingys.
Yesterday, me, mom, auntie Brett, Cali & McKenna all went to the Museum of Life & Sciences in Durham.
All I can say is WOW!!! Talk about sensory overload. There was so much to look at and touch I didn’t know where to start. I probably could’ve spent all day in the gift shop, right when we came in, but luckily mom and auntie Brett dragged me outta there!
The kiddie play area was really fun and I got to put balls in the track and watch them run around the room. I also tried out the kiddie sized skee-ball and that was pretty cool too, until that is, I flipped over the wall and landed in the ball pit. That wasn’t so much fun and I needed a quick break to suck my thumb and regain the rest of my dignity. But I quickly got back into the game, made some new friends and played with the lock display. The more practice I get, the easier the front door will be!!!
Next up on the tour was the giant spinning wheel. We got to put wooden discs on it and watch them spin all over the place. Totally cool! I think mom got a video of me putting the discs on the wheel…so go check it out. Playing on the spin-ey thing
One of my favorite spots in the museum though was the globe area…..they were hanging from the ceiling, and on stands on the floor. I was pointing at them like a madman, but no one seemed to be as excited as me. They just don’t know what they’re missing. Globes are Awesome!
The fiber optic display was pretty neat too. I pulled out all these cords that were lit up with different colored lights. And then I plugged them all back in again. I wonder if I can get grampy to install one of these displays in my bedroom….
Wow, that was enough for one day. We’ll have to go back on another day to check out all the stuff they had outside. I was too pooped to do it all in one day.
